Sarah Norberg is a daughter of California’s Central Valley, in particular the town of Folsom. When we think of Folsom, we might think of the state penitentiary that Johnny Cash immortalized in his music. When Sarah thinks about her hometown, she sees a general shift of culture caused from transplants moving eastward from San Francisco Bay. Her piece describes the thoughts and feelings of someone who left the place they grew up and returned to find it fundamentally changed.
