The Sunday — October 6

This is the Tangle Sunday Edition, a brief roundup of our independent politics coverage plus some extra features for your Sunday morning reading.

Correction.

In our “Infotainment” section last Sunday, we claimed that only four teams in the NFL were undefeated at the time of publication. Unfortunately, re committed an all too common error in sports — forgetting about the Pacific Northwest. In addition to the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers, the Seattle Seahawks were also undefeated. We regret the mistake, and will be atoning for it in today’s “Infotainment” section.

This is our 3rd correction in The Sunday's 42-week history. We track corrections and place them at the top of the newsletter in an effort to maximize transparency with readers.

Earlier this summer, Isaac sat down for an interview with Haviv Gur, an Israeli analyst and expert on the history of the Israel-Palestine conflict. That interview garnered a lot of attention, including from reader Josh Majeski, an Evangelical college minister. Josh took Gur’s explanation of Hamas’s motives and compared it to another movement he’s more familiar with: Christian Nationalism. Despite the provocative comparison, Josh takes great pains to carefully and patiently express the fine points of his argument, then draws a larger lesson about the human need to appeal to authority. The piece is absolutely captivating, and you can read it here.
