Our video on Juneteenth

A quick correction and our Juneteenth video.

I’m Isaac Saul, and this is Tangle: an independent, nonpartisan, subscriber-supported politics newsletter that summarizes the best arguments from across the political spectrum on the news of the day — then “my take.”

Today's read: 2 minutes.

Dear readers,

Today is Juneteenth. Tangle observes federal holidays, so we are off today. However, I wanted to write with two important notes: First, a correction. And second, a new YouTube video about today's holiday.

The correction: Yesterday, we described a new IRS program to close a tax loophole "aiming to raise $50 billion a year in revenue over the next decade." In fact, the IRS is hoping to raise $50 billion total over the next decade — or about $5 billion per year.

This is our 108th correction in Tangle’s 254-week history and our first correction since April 25th. We track corrections and place them at the top of the newsletter in an effort to maximize transparency with readers.

Second, while we're off today, I wanted to point you all to our latest YouTube video, which we just released this morning. I got a chance to interview some academics and local community organizers about the history of Juneteenth, and then the Tangle team hit the streets to talk to some people from Philadelphia and Fort Collins about the holiday. Help us beat the YouTube algorithm — don't forget to like the video and subscribe to our channel!

Happy Juneteenth.

— Isaac & the Tangle team
