Assistant to the editor

Tangle News is an independent media organization that covers news from across the political spectrum, with a focus and specialization in U.S. politics. Its main business offering, the daily newsletter, has 250,000 subscribers, including over 40,000 paid subscribers.

As the organization has substantially grown in the media space over the last year, we are now looking for more support. Tangle is seeking a highly organized, hungry, hard-working, open-minded, jack-of-all-trades political obsessive to assist our Executive Editor Isaac Saul in a wide range of tasks — from organizational processes like scheduling and media bookings to editorial work like copy editing or pitching YouTube video concepts. The ideal candidate will thrive under deadline work, love the thought of joining a blossoming media start-up, value Tangle's mission, and embrace the challenge and fun of having a diverse set of work tasks on any given day.

This is a full-time, salaried position. It is a hybrid remote and in-person role, though we are only considering candidates who can regularly make it to our headquarters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The job comes with a generous healthcare package and unlimited PTO. Minimum salary will begin at $50,000. Salary offers will be based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and housing.
